Slaughter Creek Trail in Southwest Austin is a new trail for mountain bikers, hikers, runners, and horses. The trail is a five-mile loop that you follow one way for horses and hikers, with the other way for mountain bikers, so user conflict is minimized. There are no extreme vertical changes - it is a very runnable, very bikeable trail.
There are still a few sharp rocks on the course for mountain biking, but it is not a technical trail. Very good for beginning mountain bikers.
This trail has more access restrictions than most in the Austin area. Any rain will close the trail down until it dries out - the gates will be shut to the park. This is not park land - it is water quality protection land, and it has more restrictions than other trails in the Austin area.

To see if the park is open. It is definitely worth a lap or two.
