Forbidden Drive is an old gravel road that runs from the Schuylkill River five miles along Wissahickon Creek to the Philadelphia City Limits in Fairmount Park. The trail is a popular place to ride bikes or go for a jog.
Forbidden Drive connects with over 50 miles of other trails, some of which you may ride your mountain bike on if you have a Fairmount Park permit.
Deep within the park, you will not believe you are within the city limits of Philadelphia, as the Wissahickon Creek valley deindustrialized in the late 1800's as a watershed protection measure for Philadelphia's drinking water supply. The only surviving business is the Valley Green Inn halfway up the trail, where you can find a restaurant, restrooms, and a water fountain.
